Does anyone know why we play Sutton?
Why not have Cross keep wicket and play Horton |

Only negative thing is the lack of runs from some of the more senior batsman (Loye, Law and Yousuf).

Agreed. It's been a struggle to get runs in this competition, not to mention just 2 batting points from 15 in the Championship.
However, it's great to see the middle/lower order getting us out of trouble, I just wish we didn't have to depend on them every game!
As we've dropped points to the weaker sides in our group, i.e. Scotland and Derbyshire, it could well be we might have to win both at Headingley and the Riverside to qualify, so still plenty of work to do. |

Just got back good win from a poor position, Cross/Du Plessis shone with the bat, Chapple weighed in with some vital runs although is now injured again. MOM Hogg, great bowling and a useful knock at the end. Silenced the Yorkie hordes.

Another great victory. It was a strong batting line up, but the bowling was pretty tight too. A good all round victory.
Scotland also pushed Durham hard at points and their growth continues. _________________ It's better here than the "official forum"!

The team I would pick for the next 3 FPT games
1 Cross
2 Marshall
3 Horton - to take his time and bat through
4 Du Plessis
5 Yousuf
6 Hogg
7 Croft
8 Chapple
9 Smith
10 Mahmood
11 Newby (Anderson if available) |

You would've thought the football fans would have had something better to do today!
Cricket is attracing too many idiots like these and the stewards need to be trained on how to handle then better. The stewards do a great job, but lack the expertise - I'm not having a drunken "go at them"! _________________ It's better here than the "official forum"!

Guy in front of me said 'DuPlessis, crap, never heard of him'
louts in A was crap. saw them at the lightniong bar and they couldnt even stand up.
Singing, ok but 'get your tits out for the lads' imo shouldnt be acceptable.
what did the stewards do apart from have the piss taken out of them? |

| Well, given the lean towards more Twenty20 cricket, we'll get even more people like that at matches, so the club needs to be prepared for dealing with them. The year we lost to Somerset at the Oval on Finals Day, there was a fight between some spectators! Looks like cricket is becoming more like footy, and not just with the money grabbing of the people running the game... |

Right, my first post here.
What a day it was meant to be, sun was out, it was a great day for cricket, I was only in shorts... How wrong was i?
I couldnt believe it when the heavens opened.
In the end, me and my dad went up, and looked at the pitch to see the puddles, we then THOUGHT no game was going to be played on it, so we left... (I didn't want to though)
May I just ask, what time did the game finish? _________________

| What a game. How exciting is this 50 over cricket malarky when Lancs are involved? |

I did wonder if the storm would last forever. But anyway, at least it was still warm enough for shorts.
Game restarted at 4pm.
The sun came back out at about 6pm, which was good.
The game finished at about 7.40pm. |

Couldn't agree more. Can't believe Horton can't get in this 50-over side, especially with all our other senior batsmen out of form. He played brilliantly against Durham, a chanceless 108 with quality shots all around the wicket when no other batsman in the match got more than 40, and is a good fielder. A good player is a good player.
Mohammed Yousuf's international stats are impressive, but he looks out of form, and is a very poor fielder(can't throw).
Du Plessis was impressive, is an excellent fielder, an OK bowler, and has a really good attitude. Deserves a chance in the 4-day game, a no.3 with Loye opening?
Still not convinced Kyle Hogg's bowling is penetrative enough for the 4-day game but he's doing a good job opening the bowling in the one-dayers. His batting has been impressive though, he finally seems to believe in himself(new captain's influence?) and looks a totally different batsman this season.
Rudolph dropping Cross early on, from one of the simplest slip catches your'e ever likely to see turned out to be a crucial moment in the match as Cross played responsibly thereafter, holding the early innings together.
As for the marshalls, there seemed to be more on duty against Durham when there wasn't a need for any, than there were against Yorkshire when many more were needed. There were none at all for K stand which is supposed to be an alcohol-free stand, so people were taking alcoholic drinks in there all day long. The club seems to be very complacent about spectator behaviour, no doubt it will take a nasty incident for them to start taking the problem seriously. They're tacitly encouraging the yobs, which will discourage the families. |
